Well in my neck of the woods, Its flea market weekend, Once a month there is a large flea market at winnie, texas. About 80 miles from us, but well worth the drive. I would rather shop at a flea market than at a mall. I"m looking for large flower pots, A guy from down mexico way comes once in a while with those big mexican pots. They look so pretty all clumped together full of flowers. Also need netting to keep birds out of my berrie patch.Winnie texas, is rice country, and the geese are all here eating rice on ground, There are hundreds of them. Also its marti graw weekend in Port arthur. I don"t go, but is nice for younger folks, I will be watching some of the olympics. Mostly the ice skateing. Have you rented any real good movies, I enjoy watching a good movie on the weekend. Will have a big Sunday dinner as usual, and the kids and hubby will do some target shooting. Okay what are you all up to?

Nothing too exciting here. Daughter is going to a slumber party tonight. Son and Hubby will work on the new bathroom tonight and the barn tomorrow. I will be balancing the checkbook (try not to envy me) and doing some general straightening around the house. Oh, can't forget that we'll be loading wood onto the porch for the coming week. Of course Sunday is church and an afternoon nap. That's about it. Next weekend BOTH kids are spending the night with friends. YEEHA!

Not much here, it's supposed to be nice, so maybe get out the horses, do some cooking, finish up the laundry room, and maybe work on my quilt. Hopefully I will have no taxes to do!!! I love the weekends the best!!!

Today I am picking up Mitchell at Kindergarten, then my mother and we are all going to the MALL (can you feel the excitement - blah!) to get mom's new shoes ordered. My sister took her last weekend to buy some, but after several hours the pair she finally settled on she decided didn't fit after she got them home, so now we have to return them and have the proper size ordered.

I will take this opportunity to spend the $25 gift certificate that I received for Christmas at JCPenney. I see where they are having clearance sales this weekend. Wonder how much stuff I can get with $25?

Lance put an ad in the newspaper for tree trimming and removal after the big ice storm, and the calls are starting to roll in, so he will probably have to do some work tomorrow. The big problem is the moisture. The ground is still pretty muddy, which makes getting somewhere to dump the limbs a problem, and while we can burn them here, there's only so many you can pile before they become a problem! (we're in the city limits, so when we can burn is controlled by the fire department and depends on the cloud ceiling and winds, along with the moisture)

Sunday Lance works, so the boys and I will probably go to church by ourselves (I've been lax at this, it's so hard to go with only yourself and two little ones, but they are getting bigger and enjoy the children's church, so I'm working on this area), and then relax and get ready for next week. Mitchell bought himself three new books at the school book fair with money he earned HIMSELF by picking up pecans and selling them to a family friend before Christmas. He was so proud of himself, and has $1.03 (don't forget the .03!) left over.

A flea market sure sounds like fun, Irene. When we go to Arkansas to visit we pass one once in awhile, and I'm always looking to see if they are open. I want to stop and hunt through one day when I have LOTS of room in the back for my found treasures!

Irene-the flea market sounds great! I love them. I spent this morning poking around some thrift stroes-but I had an off day, didn't find much-sometimes you do, sometimes....

On Saterdays through Febuary, my kids have classes at Western Ky. University, so While they are in their class, I go to Hobby Lobby I love that place!!! My husband has class there on Tuesday and one of the video places has five day rentals, so Febuary is our Film Festaval Month, we get bunches of movies, and make subsandwiches or pizza. Thats fun. On Sunday afternoons, we've been walking the parimeter of our property. Its about a mile all around and the terrain is hilly, so its great exercise, plus theres allways something new to see-this weekend we're looking for daffidils and crocus. I've got a great knitting project and a great quilt project going. So it will be a great wekend.

I'm cleaning and detailing a Peterbilt truck I bought so I can sell it next week and bring in some needed cash. I'm hoping to split $20,000-$30,000 with my partner on this deal. Sunday early morning I'm going to drive my new tractor out to my land with a friend following me. This thing has a top end speed of 13 mph so it'll take the better part of an hour just to drive it out there. I could just call someone to come get me when I'm there or drive a spare car I keep out there back in to mine but I like the idea of someone following me so no one runs up my back. There aren't really any backroads I can use to get there from here and most people anymore don't seem to have a whole lot of respect for tractors on "their roads." After that it's church and taking my Mom out to eat somewhere. That's become something of a tradition with her on Sundays when she feels up to it. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I haven't even thought about the weekend. I wish it were warm enough for the flea markets to be open here - I love them. There are a couple of indoor ones but I like the outside ones better. Kelly, have you ever been to the flea market in Elizabethtown and the Awesome Flea market just south of Sheperdsville? I love them! Hubby and I will probably spend most of Saturday working around here. Sunday of course is church. Nothing special planned this weekend.

WILLA - If you are going to be to the Dallas area by Sunday (17th), and looking for a good flea market, the Third Monday trade days on Hwy. 380 just east of McKinney (off Hwy. 75, about 30 mi. N. of Dallas) is worth the trip. Too bad you won't be here for the biggest and best flea market in the world (as it's billed) - First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas. It is about 60 mi. east of Dallas. It is HUGE and has something for everyone. Several hundred acres and thousands of dealers. People come from all over the U.S. to see it and sell there. Every month on the weekend (starts Thurs.) preceding the first Monday of the month.

Oh, Irene, I want to go to the flea market!! we're in a small town and the pickins' are pretty slim!

I will do the usual, but know what I would LIKE to be doing: gardening!! The past two days have been just gorgeous. Now if it were April instead of February..............

Barb, I've been to the flea market near Shepardsville! It was awesome. My SIL used to live in Mount Washington and we were visiting on vacation and went to the flea market. What fun! I just love Kentucky.

Hi, Irene. Has your card arrived yet?

This morning, I performed a wedding at an employee's sports club for Ericsson. Nearly an outdoor affair. Afterwards, one of those prolonged Brazilian barbeques I described in one of my Affirmatives articles. The all-day rain couldn't dampen the joy of the event.

Sundays are always a full day. Oh, Willa, anywhere in Arkansas is always a good trip. (Sou suspeito para falar = I'm prejudiced.) My mom liked the diamond mine.

Well, this weekend we're tapping trees. The weather today is beautiful here (too warm for what we're doing, really) and we tapped, so far, around 750 trees, hung the buckets and, very wearily, came home. By the time we left the woods, some of the buckets were already 1/3 full, so weather permitting, we'll be collecting tomorrow afternoon after church and a big dinner. Y'all want to come on over and help?

Irene, I forgot to mention -- you said it was Mardi Gras there, here in Brazil it's called Carnaval, so we're in a holiday weekend here that stretches through Tues./Wed. The boys went to a special youth camp session this morning; went first time by themselves by bus to Sao Paulo and stayed the night with friends to be able to catch the rented bus to camp early today. So we'll have just Leila until Tuesday night. Camp is for 14 years and up, so she's shy of that some five years.

Barb-no, I havn't been to the E-town one or Shepherdsville. My husband is not a big fan of flea markets-though he enjoys a good thrift store. My sister loves them though. We used to go to one near Cumberland Gap-Harrogate, Maybe? In Tennessee. That was years ago, I don't know if its still there, but you could buy chickens and rabbits, I think once they had goats. Anyway, its too cold now. There is one under roof called Flea World near Bowling Green. When my sister comes, we'll have to go check it out.
