I haven't had much chance to read lately!! I have been doing taxes until I see numbers in my sleep, and that doesn't leave much extra time. What have you all been reading???

I just finished reading a book by Rick Bragg titled "All Over but the Shoutin'" it is about the Author's life growing up in rural Alabama, poor and Fatherless for the most part. He went on t become a Pulitzer Prize winning Reporter for the "New York Times".

It was the best book I have read in many years and really loved it. He has a great way with words and a Great Storyteller. I would highly recomend it!

Rick Bragg has another book out titled "Ava's Man" about his Grandfather that I am looking forward to reading.

My bible, a wonderful 1910 first edition of O'Henrys' "Whirligigs", The Pickwick Papers, and a book of selected British poetry...can never get enough of old books!

The last few weeks have been rather hectic for us so I haven't had a lot of reading time either. I've been going over my money-saving books (Tightwad Gazette, etc.) and spending some spare moments studying Goat Medicine, which my dh gave me at Christmas. Yesterday I finally had time to start a real book, The Ishbane Conspiracy (Christian novel), by Randy Alcorn.

Tonight when I take my granddaughter home, my daughter is giving me 3-4 boxes of Christian fiction and non-fiction books that she is weeding out. I'm a voracious reader so this is like Christmas for me! I love it when dd goes on a house cleaning streak. :) :) :)

My Bible first thing every morning,(I took up our pastor's challenge to read through the Bible this year), just finished OutWest about the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Victory Over the Darkness by Neil Anderson, Living More With Less by Doris Longacre, and I've been looking back over old Countryside magazines looking for frugal living tips. I like to keep a bunch of reading materials going at once. With TV viewing such a poor choice these days reading is a great alternative. Nancy

I've been spending way too much money on books this winter!Reading is addictive. This is a list of some books I've been reading:The Beardstown Ladies'Guide To Smart Spending For Big Savings,Frugal Families and Miserly Moms by Joni McCoy,Mommy Diagnostics by Shonda parker,Clean Naturally by Sandy Maine,The Soapmaker's Companion byS.M.Miller,He Chose The Nails by Max Lucado, seed catalogs and more.I dont watch much T.V. so I read in the early mornings and late evenings .I need to read my Bible more so if you read this and you are a praying person say a small prayer for me that I will be more faithful to reading Gods word every day.Thanks. Willa.

Hey Mark, my aunt lent me 'Ava's Dad' and it is really good. It is about the author's grandfather's life. I haven't read the book you mentioned, but will now give it a look in the library. I like Bragg's writing.

The Bible (currently in Acts), Plain and Happy Living (Amish Recipes & Remedies) by Emma Byler and several of the Mrs. Pollifax books. The Pollifax books by Dorothy Gilman are a lot of fun, I highly recommend them for entertainment. Oh, almost forgot, I'm also reading through the Hank the Cowdog books with a couple of my sons. That's it for this week!
