It's reported in a number of papers today that Sunderland are "installing spy cameras and building protective barriers around Reid's dug-out at the SOL". Apparently hundreds of fans have been forcing their way towards the dug-out to hurl abuse. (Well this is a danger if you give the tickets away to any Tom, Dick or Harry).

"Fans also threw their season ticket booklets, shirts and scarfs at the Sunderland bench in a fierce protest.

Rumours that the protective devices were installed at the request of the RSPCA may have been wide of the mark - as is the rumour that the cameras were installed by David Attenborough .... :-)

It seems that Cologne have returned Lillian to Sunderland without him completing his loan deal. The Cologne director said he is "not the player we expected". (Which begs the question - who were they expecting?)

There was a very funny mackem on the 3 Leg Ends last night. He went into great detail describing all the protection around the dugouts before delivering his punchline: "Bet he still gets out!" Great attitude, laughing through the tears.
