Problem with VCD on a Pioneer 340 : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I've tried to burn my own VCD and play them on my Pioneer 340, but with no success.

I've tried VCD 1.1, VCD 2.0 and SVCD and a lot of different burner softwares (eg Nero, CDRWin, VCDEasy).

What happens is either: 1. I get a still image that changes about ones a minute (no sound), or 2. No picture or sound and the timer on the DVD searches through the CD at about double play rate.

What could be the cause of this???

I've got it to work with a SVCD.

I wonder why it didn't work with a normal VCD though...

It's hard to say what your problem is. I suggest that you go to and download the VCD samples they have and burn them and see if they will play. If they play, it could be that you are doing something wrong when making VCD - for example, you might be recording at invalid bit rates, you might be doing something incorrectly for the audio, etc. Without more details on exactly what you are doing (ie. converting DivX to VCD, recording your own VCDs with a capture card), it's hard to say. If the samples at vcdhelp don't work, maybe your DVD player is defective when it comes to DVD. It might need a firmware upgrade. I would suggest you test both NTSC and PAL VCD with the samples.
