Leeds, Leeds ....

Did you see Ridsdale being concerned about Leeds' finishing position and the financial horrors that would befall them if they failed to be in Europe ? He suggested their squad would be too big and expensive if they failed to qualify for the CL and maybe even the Eufa Cup.

They've gambled heavily and they're scared it might not come off....they aren't out of it yet and are definitely capable of a good run yet....they just aren't really scoring enough to be honest...

Some close season bargains?

If we ever needed a replacement for Shearer (hopefully not yet!) then Viduka plays the same way. Strong, tough, good in the air, holds the ball well. I don't like the guy but probably for the same reasons as everyone else hates Al - he's hard and bloody good! Wonder how much Leeds would let him go for if they failed to qualify?

If Leeds do fail to qualify then a lot of their players will be off, not because Leeds can't afford their salary but because they are all a bunch of glory hunting Bast*rds. Viduka is a particular case in point. Ask Celtic fans how loyal he is.

Leeds have borrowed millions on the basis that they will qulaify for Europe. I know Newcastle's financial situation isn't great but Leeds really will be in it if they fail to get into Champs League.

Does this really surprise anyone though? I've said it a few times and at least another 10 on here have as well, that Leeds were relying on getting in the Champions' League to pay for players like Keane, Viduka and even bloody Seth Johnson.

They haven't really got strength in depth for how much they've spent. They have bought some good players, but no real squad players who can step in but will be happy being a sub. The quicker you rise, the quicker you fall.
