Taggart Staying

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Very intense media speculation on all channels that Taggart will stay for at least one more season. Some are saying a statement will be out today.

Beckham won't sign unless he knows the new manager.

Pathetic i think. I have a bit of a vested interest in this seince I have to live in Manchester. I have heard it all during today. How everyone else should be quaking in their boots cos the 'mighty Fergy' has decided to stay on. Pah!

Could to turn out to be a really bad move, to do a u turn on this. Can't help thinking their total domination of league football in on the wane. I could be wrong but I would have expected Ferguson to go out on top, 2 more seasons could see him regretting his decision.

They've suffered this season with the uncertainty over his deeparture. It would be a shame if they suffered for exactly the same reason next season.

....he's only keeping the seat warm for Martin O'Neill.

Nah Clarky

I reckon Martin O'neil is just waiting for Sir Bobby to put his feet up

Nooooooooooooo. I like Martin O'Neil. He can't go there! No!

He can come to us once YBR retires. He'll have a young squad hitting it's prime. Why would he go anywhere else? ;-)

Hee..great minds, Bob... :-)

Did you see the Manc commenting that he wants another opportunity to make Keegan cry...

If an employee of mine had mucked me about the way he has Manure I'd tell him to bog off. According to some papers Manure were going to make an announcement about a new manager in the next few days. If this is true and they have broken agreements with, what I assume must be, a big name in world footballjust to keep pander to Taggart's whims I'm astonished at them.

Doesn't surprise me.

Martin O' Neil is good but he'll be to old when YBR retires. :-)

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2002

Aye, he's a Sunderland supporter, too... (that's true BTW).

I suspect the truth is that haven't been able to persuade any of their top targets to sign up, and have had to beg/bribe Taggart to stay on.

I have a funny feeling that someone has indicated that for contractual reasons they can't join the club for either one or two seasons - most likely O'Neill, but perhaps even SGE.

Maybe YBR turned them doon? :-)

I think you've probably hit the nail on the head clarky.

-- Anonymous, February 07, 2002

Who cares. It's interesting for 5 minutes, after that I'm just interested in YBR and his successor

Apparently Ferguson's getting a 3 year contract so all the talk of O'Neill might be a little premature. Personally I think Makem O'Neill needs some practice running a big club before we take him on.

-- Anonymous, February 07, 2002

Lol. Apparently the board of MUFC are only wanting him for another year so it may yet come unstuck. Presumably, they are making Fergie's fave point: No one is bigger than Man Utd.

Jacko - I imagine if your employee had led your company to unparalled success for a decade you might allow some leyway :-)

Oi...hang on a mo!

You laughed at the thought of SAF leaving and the Empire crumbling. Now you laugh at the thought of him staying...and the Empire crumbling.

:-)

LR, I laugh at the fact that SAF may get a dose of his medicine, nothing more, nothing less.

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2002

Is that the medicine he left at Old Truffle when he had a dose of the s**ts?

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2002

He's changed his mind 'cos he thinks they might actually win the PL &/or the CL; what a laugh it will be when they only finish 2nd./3rd. in the PL.

;7)
