Cooking Hint of the Day - Make Your Own Croutons

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

Don't buy croutons...make your own! They only take a short time, are easy to make, and tastes so much better than store ones. You can store them in zip lock bags for a week.

Cut up bread in squares the size of the croutons you like, toss with just enough olive oil to coat very lightly. Put in a single layer on cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees until lightly brown and crisp. If you like your croutons seasoned, after tossing with olive oil, toss in some oregano, garlic powder, and parsley (or whatever combination of spices you like).
