tmax 3200 best developer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

If I shot a roll of Kodak Tmax 3200 at (EI) 3200 what would be the best developer to use to get the best tonality. I have used ID 11 and the print seemed to be hellishly contrasty. I know this is contrasty film but i have got a great tonal range with a developer which I cannoty remember....

When I rate this film at 3200, I use TMax developer and under process slightly from Kodak's recommendation. My best results from this film are when I rate it at 1000 and process in TMax.

Stock Microphen.

However, TMZ is not the film of choice if what you want is tonality. Pick something else, Plus-X or HP5+ depending on your paper and taste.
