What where Poe's last words?

Reportedly, Poe's last words were "Lord, help my poor soul."

Just to let you know ALL sources, especially the attending physician, are conflicting and suspiciously embellished. Poe raved and may not have said much coherent at the end at all. The Doctor went on tour expanding on his last contacts with Poe rather imaginatively, tailored for the emotional tastes of the day. Poe might have approved of his enterprising fictionaliztion of memory. At least he was sympathetic although he came to paint Poe as someone repenting of his many scandalous "sins." It might be better to remember Poe's last conscious works. Not everyone achieves that gift of lucidity and cosmic summation at death for our edification. Poe never seemed one to go gently into the night no matter the fascination(like vertigo) he had with the murky afterlife.
