What might this be on buck?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Raising meat rabbits for profit : One Thread

One of the bucks I just got, and haven't used, has an odd growth, I guess I should call it. Near the side of his testicles is a black sack like growth. It isn't firm, like a lump, but more like an empty sack. Hard to explain. About the size of one testicle. Any thoughts as to what it might be, and should I use this buck to breed litters that would just be meat prospects? Thanks, Jan

I can't be positive without actually seeing the unusual "growth," but I am suspecting it to actually be an unused portion (i.e., extension) of the testes sac. These nodule-like extensions have a tendency to turn black. Doesn't mean a doggone thing other than it being "normal" for that buck. Is it soft... skin-like? Or is it hard and "crusty?"

The "growth" for want of a better word, is like an empty sack, just black, loose, and empty skin. No crust. He seems to be very healthy otherwise, and I was thinking of keeping him as an extra buck, but wasn't sure with this "thing" on him. Thanks, Pat! Jan
