7:38pm -

The visitors opened the scoring after 10 minutes with an Andy Campbell shot and it was Campbell again after 18 minutes as the United defence parted as if Moses had put him through....

Brian Kerr pulled one back for United slipping the ball under the keeper after 32 minutes as the rain comes down at Kingston Park.

But Luke Wilkshire restored Boro's two goal lead a minute later, taking advantage of more slack United defending.

Team: Collin, Griffin, Quinn, Cowan, McGuffie, Marcelino, Boyd, Kerr, Cort, Ameobi, Bernard. Subs: McMenamin, Bell, Chopra, Orr, Ferrell

Come on Farcellino, pull your finger out!

Don't panic - it's just the Club's adopted style. Cr@p defending, go behind - lull the opposition into a false sense of security, and then come back to edge it, just as the fans finger nails are down to the bone!

1-3! Things are not going precisely to plan!

Well I have to confess I left like a drowned rat 10 minutes from time. We were 4 - 1 down and fully deserving of it. And on top of that they wouldn't let us into the only open bar at half time. I left the brave Screach, Softie, Steph and Jonno to represent the BBS 'til the bitter end. Circulation is just reaching my toes now, 40 minutes later.

Nobody going to talk about the most significant word in this thread?

Cort.

Awful game of football, awful weather, good company. Te only notable thing I can say about this pointless effort is that I saw a little of Chopra's skill (one mazy run).

Cort was substituted and seemed quite fit after his run out. Like the rest of the team he had done little to impress. I know that several of these players can step their game up when it comes to getting their Premiership chance, but on tonight's evidence that was not immediately apparent.

Dire. Caught too many times. Given away too much. Dunno Hughes to blame. Shearer agony (well, it was worse than shear agony).

Collin
McGuffie, Cowan, Marcelino, Quinn
Griffin, Kerr, Boyd, Bernard
Ameobe, Cort.

A pile of sh*te is a good way to describe last night. I got there and discovered the only cover to be had, namely the far stand, was closed because of wind damage. That meant standing in the open and it was pissing down. I stood behind the goal at the opposite end to where everything happened. I was pleased about that because a fairly ordinary Smoggy team went through a nonexistent defence three times. The game was finished as a contest because of those goals and it was still ages to go before half-time. Still that’s a better night than watching soaps.

I can’t give a detailed account of the game because the lighting at the far end is poor and my old eyes aren’t what they once were. I need some new specs.
One or two thing I found interest

Marcelino is simply shite
CC did nothing of note and was replaced by Choppy who did nothing of note
Ameobe and Bernard very poor
Kerr, Boyd in midfield poor
Griffin interestingly played wide on the right and did one or two good things, a good run, couple of canny crosses. He looked creamed in the second half but.
As for the defence oh dear!

Heard last night (or something very similar):

Screacher: "I've passed up Coronation Street for this!"

Softie: "They'll be missing you on there then."

LOL! Missed that one.

That was a shocking display in how to not give a toss. It seems incredible that a group of players who are supposedly on the brink of getting into a title-challenging side where injuries and suspensions are inevitable should show such complete lack of application. They aren't worth writing about so balls to them (except Brian Kerr who had the decency to score and Bernard for trying a bit in the 3 or 4 positions he found himself playing). Despite the rain it was the least windy I have known at KP so there was no real excuse. YBR stayed to the end, presumably just to give them a rocket.
