Colour neg 10x8 streaks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

Does anyone have any experience with colour 10x8 negative (Fuji NPS)? I tried it out for the first time this week. When the negs came back from the lab I made my own contact prints and saw that a number of them had streaks of what looks like uneven development, mainly in mid-tone areas. What could be the cause? The lab is the biggest pro-lab in London and should be reliable. Any suggestions greatly appreciated............

If the processing is done in a JOBO they need to presoak soch a big sheet before they develop it or else they make streaks.

I have the same experience with the biggest pro-lab in Finland with 8x10 Portra. I can't find any other reason that when the film comes out from the developer in a dip and dunk machine, the developer flows along the film and causes the problem. The neg process C-41 is short timed and therefore rather aggressive. I'm not sure if this couldn't occure with smaller, eg. 4x5 film too. Now I'm searhing for another lab. Jan
