I need a zoom lens...

I need a zoom lens. But I don't know where to start. I have a canon ftp camera, yes, its old, but it does me good. I have a lens that goes up to 105mm, but I want more. I want to take pictures of the moon, I want to take close up of animals. So I am thinking of at least about 200, maybe going up to 300. I don't know how much this is going to cost me or anything. Where should I strart...someone help me...

I can't find anything on a Canon FTP. You sure it's not an FTb? Which was a nice basic camera.

In any case it can use Canon FD mount lenses. There were quite a few third party maunfacturers that produced lenses with FD mounts on them as well. If you go to the photography section of www.ebay.com and do a search for "Canon FD", you'll find plenty for auction. Maybe even what you want. At least you can see the relative values.

For pictures of the moon and closeups of animals you will probably want something longer than 300mm. 400 to 600 would be my guess. The cheap way would be to use a mirror lens, but their image quality is often poor.

You can buy a 2x extender and that will double your focal length..

Arash, you dont want a zoom for this you want a prime lense. Second hand is always worth looking for. YOu probably dont need an AF lense, but try and get one with a wide aperture. Cheap lenses are... cheap. A
