All Good Things...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Well, when I created this forum on April 1st, 2001 I never had any idea that I'd be stepping down as CEO 10 months later. But, with a heavy heart, that definitely is what I'm doing today.

Effective today (February 1st, 2002) I am officially handing over ownership of BTS to Joy Froelich (whom most of you already know has been co-moderating with me for some time now).

The decision to step down has been a tough one - something that I've been wrestling with for quite a while now. But things here at home and at work have been taking up so much of my time (and mental energy) lately that taking care of the forum has been sinking lower and lower on my list of "to do" things.

So, I've finally come to the realization that I need to make some *major* changes in my life and one of those changes includes leaving BTS. I'm NOT saying that I'll *never* come back - or that I won't drop by from time to time - but it does mean that my absence will be much, much greater on the forum from now on.

With that being the case, it's pretty much impossible to effectively moderate a forum when you're not around. :-) So, I've asked Joy if she would be interested in taking over the forum and she has agreed. I am *immensely* grateful to her for doing so as it makes stepping down much easier knowing the forum is in capable hands. Love ya, Joy. :-)

I don't know what direction the forum will take after I'm gone but I have absolute confidence that Joy (and all of you) will do whatever is best for how and where you want the forum to progress.

Before I sign off I wanted to add that this forum has really been quite an experience for me (I hope you all feel the same way, too). I've really grown to care about you all over these last 10 months. I didn't really know any of you prior to April 1st but I feel that you guys have become like family to me. And that's pretty wonderful when I think of what a hermit and introvert I tend to be. (laughing)

(sigh)

Well, that's pretty much all I have to say on the matter. If there are any questions that arise that you need any help with concerning the forum I'm just an email away (or if you just want to say hi, too).

Good luck with the forum. And play nice with each other. :-)

-Jim

Well big guy...........I am sniffing also. My hopes are that now, relieved of the burden of ownership, you will just come back and "play" when you can. Hugs

I've been sniffling all over him for the last few days -- he'll be growning green mold soon! :-{

I love you too, Jim! You're like my big little brother or something . . . (okay, weird, I know). Come back on April 1st for our One Year Anniversary -- we'll have to have a party or something!

I understand where your coming from. Just don't be a stranger. Thanks for a great board. This board was actually a big part of my accepting the task of setting up the singletree. I just hope I can get it tweaked well enough to turn over the reins there someday, but first have it running proper. You'll be missed. Can we revere you as a sainted hero in your absence ? :>)

Whateverrrrr...

(Seriously, the best to you!!)

Thanks SO much for starting this all up. Don't be a stranger (and....I hope/expect you'll turn up somewhere else online.....)

Bah whaa!!! Going to sure miss you Jim Bob, check up on us when you can just to say "hi" at least ;-)!!!

Bye Jim, You'll never know how much I appreciated getting that first e-mail inviting me to be part of this group. It meant a lot to me and still does. I don't get a chance to "visit" as much as I'd like, but its always nice to know these good open minded folks are here when I need them.

Love Ya,

Gee whiz Jim. Hate to see you go. You be sure to check in every once in awhile though. Got to know how your gardens work out for you this year. Don't be too busy. Balance is the key. Hugs and good wishes. -Vicki

Wow...I'm offline for a few days and the whole world here has changed!! Got new folks coming and a good friend leaving :-(. Have to keep your priorities in order, though, Jim!! Everyone here has...on occasion...been too busy to post on a regular basis (what with family issues, gardening, etc.). So I can imagine how hard it must be keeping up with this place as a moderator!! But we all KNOW that Joy will do a great job...and (hopefully!) you wont have to worry 'bout us :-)!! Happy Trails to you...and please check in on occasion!

Thank you for all the work that both you and Joy have put in. Check in and see what us 'weirdos' are doing from time to time.
