greenspun.com : LUSENET : MATH : One Thread

Bonjour.

Today is my uncle Bird's birthday.

Also, I have a Board of Directors meeting from noon to 3 PM. I shudder at what pains I will have to take to try and stay awake. It's my first one, so I am all fancy and wearing a suit today.

What are y'all doing?

Thanking god that January is over. What a shitty month.

Also, being very glad that it's Friday.

Where's AB these days? Taking another break from the internet? But what about MATH?

I'm heading to the dermatologist (THANK GOD) in about 30 minutes. My skin is just completely freaking out, and I cannot deal with it anymore.

After that, I'm going to the monogram place to have some towels monogrammed for my sister Jane for her birthday.

Jane's turning 20, right? And Susan 19? When are they getting into town?

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

You know, my monogramed towels are the only think in my life I'm OCD about. I don't care if someone uses them at all, but when they hang them up, the monogram has got to be centered and facing the right way.

I guess I'm that way about my sheets, too.

Oh, FYI - the Derailers are going to be on Morning Edition tomorrow on NPR. Great Texas band. I hope I remember.

They're going to Athens tonight, and they're driving to Atlanta tomorrow morning. Yep, 19 and 20 - I'm making them the birthday bread pudding.

I just talked to JoLo. She had lunch yesterday with Uncle Buddy and Aunt Lou and Cousin Betty and Cousin Griff.

No, really.

Grandmother wouldn't go because she was mad at Lou for saying something bad about the President.

People, my life.

I been around, H! I wish I didn't have to take a break from the internet, but these fools up here have been piling it on. I think I'll write my journalversary entry today, though!

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Damn. L_Led this early in the morning. This calls for a cigarette.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Have they been working you too hard?

Is it your journalversary alreadty? Dizzam.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Jan. 31 was my journal anniversary. I need to post something about that...

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Feb. 4 was my first entry, I think. Clazy, to me!

Yeah, Al, I remember you started right before I did. Are we old school now? Heh.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

MATH is old school. Crazy as that is.

Is it the weekend yet? Do y'all have plans?

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

I had a nice, big glass of wine at lunch. It's a shame I have so much to do here in the office.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Well, the diarist things were sent out today.

My entry about Bill Lowe got nominated for "Best Dramatic," and I wish to God it hadn't, because I specifically tried to write it in an UNdramatic way.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Dear God. It nearly WAS a showdown, then, Al--my DDE is nominated for outstanding. How 'bout that?

Also comedic and design. Claziness in the journal world!

I've been calling monogram places in Atlanta to have these towels I bought Jane monogrammed with her initials - HOLY SHIT! Do y'all think that $20 is a little high for monogramming a single bath towel? I mean, I only paid $27 for all the towels at the Marshall's. I'm not about to pay $20 for the initials.

And since when does it take two weeks turnaround for monogramming? Al, I'm tempted to venture to that place at the Discover Mills where it was 50 cents per letter and only took 45 minutes.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

It's pretty expensive at those little monogramming places. You can imagine why - it's all they do.

I'd call that lady at Discover Mills or some seamstress place.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Why don't you just get a needle and thread and monogram them yourself?

Just kidding! Don't hurt me.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Well, y'all aren't going to believe this.

My friend Dan will be directing episode 6 of the next season of Oz on HBO.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Al! That is incredible. Hey, maybe you can get in a cameo as the sassy new prison guard who really wants to sing for a living.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

That's AWESOME! Maybe he can cast Eric as some guy's bitch.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

You know. I'm asking objectively - does my writing suck or something? Because shut-out again!

AB - what was nominated for comedic? You WILL win design this time.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Al - was Ricky Scaggs cancelled?? Chris just left me a cryptic message.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

How could you even ask that? These things are dumb - I wish they'd list all nominated journals, because I am sure you're nominated, if I am.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

I know. I know. It's stupid to think, yet I do.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Ricky Skaggs left someone a cryptic message?

H...please. I think it really boils down to who the panel picks. Luck of the draw, mostly.

It was my old lady entry that was nominated for comedic.

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

That's the one I nominated too, so yay. It was funny even though, you know, it wasn't.

Did y'all hear that emails were sent claimed that the WSJ reporter is dead? But then another group claims that he's alive and they're demanding $2 million in ransom?

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

It was my old lady entry that was nominated for comedic.

If it wins, you have to take Madeleine Chao out for dinner - because her part, telling you to be more careful - damn it's the best.

If he was cancelled, I haven't heard! How do we find out?

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Oh y'all. Rudergirl. Laid off.

HOW many jobs has this girl had in the past year??

-- Anonymous, February 01, 2002

Okay, this is odd - I just called Variety and the show isn't cancelled - so I don't know if Josh and Liza cancelled, or what. Chris is supposed to call me back.
