Christ on a bike, what's an ageing Prog Rocker gonna do for us? I preferred them as The Nice...

Another new rumour, but extremely dubious, is that Houllier is about to retire and Keegan is being 'lined up' for Liverpool. Heard from a drunken ex Pool player who was talking last night to a good friend of mine in Norwich. I suppose it's possible they might approach him, with Phil Thompson doing the tactics/training and Keegan the motivating?

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought Emerton was the defensive central midfielder we need to replace Lee, while NUFC.com have him down as a right sided player. I'm sure Niall and Biffa are right but any Aussies out there able to say more about him?

Not only that, teletext are reporting Forest have accepted a £5m bid for Jenas. Up here today talking personal terms.

It was on the radio this morning too - get spotting kids!

In Championship Manager (yes, I know) Emerton always plays right-back for Feyenoord.

Been said here before, plays RFB for Feeyenooord, but hates it.

Prefers RMF or RWB. Have seen him play a couple of cracking games in CMF though!

Can see a line up of

Given

Hughes, O'Brien, Distin

Emerton, Solano, Dyer, Jenas, Robert

Shearer, Bellamy

This could cause havoc on the "quality" teams around us at the mo!

Looks a good side Gus. A bit on the short side perhaps, which could be a problem and would limit us at set pieces.

No change there then. ;-)

We will have to start to accept that we do not have a best XI any more, but a squad to choose from. Lots of players seem to be indispensable but they are not. Next season we may well get to the point where we just don't know who the best XI is, (ref our centre halves) and Bobby just makes it up on a game by game basis. Only when we get to the Cup finals do we find out who he really views as the best XI, or not if we play Spurs and he plays 3-5-2 again !

Newcastle United moved today to quash speculation circulating in certain media outlets who were reporting that Feyenoord's Australian midfielder Brett Emerton is due in Newcastle today to discuss a possible move to United. A flabbergasted United Chairman Freddy Shepherd said: "I have no idea where these reports come from but I can categorically say that Brett Emerton is not due on Tyneside today." So that's that then.
