How to Add a Website Link to Your Posts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

Would you like to add a link to a website in your posts so all you have to do is click on the link to take the reader there? It is very easy to do. Here's how:

First remember what I told you before about the forum being a webpage but with only a couple of HTML codes already programed in for you? Remember how you had to use that

<BR> to add a line to your text? Same principal. We need to tell the website to go somewhere else when you click on some text. You will do it using the same type of HTML codes in those funny brackets (<>). Remember to use those brackets or it won't work! Here is your code:

<A HREF="your site address goes here"> Your Text Goes Here</A> In other words, lets say you want to direct your readers to the Lion Yarn site. You would type it like this: <A HREF="http://www.lionbrand.com"> Lion Yarn Site</A> It comes out looking like this: Lion Yarn Site

That's all there is to it! Just remember your brackets and all the symbols including the = sign, "quotes, etc. You can also copy and paste the web address so you don't make a typo.

Feel free to test it out below with your favorite site. Let me know if you have any problems I will try to help you. Next lesson is how to add a photo to your directions or to show us what you are working on. Stay turned for the next adventure!

Every have "one of those days"??? I forgot to meantion (duh, is kind of important of me to meantion -- I am such an idiot sometimes...LOL!!) that you have to use the entire address including the http:// part - not just the www.com thing. I corrected the above instructions to include that. Here is your fixed up link. Other than that part you did perfect!! Thanks for posting!
