R4s TTL metering?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hi Guys

I made some B&W pictures with a yellow filter that had a factor of 2.5-3. This means about 1-1.5 extra stop.

Odd thing is that when I put the filter in front of my lens, I don't see that the exposer time changes in the viewfinder (A-spot), compared to no filter. This I would have expected with the TTL metering of the R4s

I made 3 shots with and without filter: 0, +1 and -1, camera set to M. I can see on the film that the ones with filter seem less exposed (I'm not sure because it may be the effect of the yellow filter, I have no prints yet), even the +1 of the filter compared to the 0 of the non-filter.

Any comments?

Hi Reinier

Well, the SLR should have corrected by itself due to density of the filter.

But the cells are not responding equally to all light source. It might explain your observation.

Reading the R7 handbook by Arthur Landt, the writer reccomends to try out although the TTL should work.

So? It may be absolutely normal, give it another try.

X.
