The #29 and TTL metering

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I'm experimenting (well I will be) with a #29 deep red filter for dramatic sky effects. Does anyone on the panel have any experience with this filter and how it affects the meter reading TTL on the Leica M camera. The filter has a correction factor of +3 stops but will the severely red shifted light affect the meter reading even more?

Thanks,

I don't see why it would make the meter do anything funny, but maybe use some faster film or else take a tripod along.

I'm concerned about the spectral sensitivity of the metering cell.

And your ACTUAL EXPERIENCE with the filter has been ....??????????

Why ask when you can just try it. Aren't your eyes the best judge?

John,

I haven't used the #29 Red, but often use the #25, and I haven't noticed any spectral sensitivity problems with the M6 TTL meter. Naturally, the normal caveats apply, and you may want to bracket your exposures a bit depending on your metering technique.
