pulling fur, not due for 2 weeks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Raising meat rabbits for profit : One Thread

My doe, is pulling massive amounts of fur. She was not bred till 1/16/02. Any ideas why? On the plus side had another litter today, 9 kits, 8 more due tonight or tommorrow. Off topic but rabbit related. Got kicked of the yahoo, meat rabbit board because I was complaining about so much off topic descussions. Geeze never got banned from an internet site before [LOL]

Have you palpated to see if she has any kits? If no kits then it is a false pregnancy. Is this her first time? How old is she? Meat rabbit list I agree with you about to many other discusions.

Tracy, Try to palpate her, I really suspect that she is having a false pregnancy. Usually when the pull fur like this at approxiatmly 2 weeks pregnant they are having a false pregnancy. Just to be sure still put in a box for the scheduled due date. Denise

Tracy,

Is there a possibility she was bred earlier and you did not know it? Didn't you just recently get your herd?? Was she in a cage with a buck maybe in transport?? If I were you, I would put a box in now - just in case. It would be better to be safe than sorry. When I first got my rabbits, I lost a litter because I didn't know the doe was bred. Good luck !!
