What's for Supper

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Ha-I'm going to church supper so: Whatever some kind soul has cooked. Seriously, I love the fellowship on Wed evenings. Like family and a break from cooking dinner to boot.

I do want to hear what you are cooking though and tomorrow will add what I am making for Thurs. Good eating!

Lance is at work, so it's clean-out-the-refrigerator and give-mom-a- break night around here. We have a choice of: leftover chili, fried chicken/mashed potatoes/gravy/and green beans, red beans and rice with cornbread, or a sandwich and chips. Tomorrow...hmm, I'd better start thinking about that...we haven't had steak in awhile...hmmm.

I have a full day planned, a lot of which will be spent in town, so I am doing Swiss steak in the crockpot, makes it's own gravy so all I have to do is make some mashed potatoes to accompany it. Haven't decided yet what to do for a vegetable, etc. Probably fresh green beans, dh really enjoys them.

Its church night, so whatever the wife can make and we can eat fast. I think burgers are on tap for tonight.

Either buckwheat pancakes, with fried canned potatoes and onions and eggs (Gary will have sausage or tomato soup and grilled cheese, or somehting with salmon or some of the granola I'm making as we speak, or something, I really don't know, maybe something creative.

Porcupine meatballs (no they aren't made from porcupine!), mashed pototoes, green beans, and homemade bread.

I'm trying something new-its a spinach rice casserole in the crockpot_ I think it will be good. With it will be some cooked veggie-havn't decided what yet, and a big green salad, and for dessert, yellow cake with peaches I froze last summer (I HAVE to use up some stuff in my freezer!)

mmmmm Karen, porcupine meatballs were one of my favorite meals when I was a kid! Thanks for the memory.

It's minestrone soup and cornbread for us tonight. Tomorrow I have class so it's every man for himself, and Friday is our traditional pizza night.

Turkey and noodles (with chunks of celery and carrots), multi-grain bread, colby cheese, cranberry juice.

My plan is, stir fry: chicken, zucchini, bean sprouts, carrots, broccoli, and leek. Plain boiled rice. Dessert is going to be a Dutch Crumble Pie. I have a few apples that need to be used up.

Nice to see you Ann Markson! (Thrifty here) Thanks for your email. I sent a reply.

lEFT OVERS!!!!! Last night I made noodles & mushrooms & sauce--baked potatoes---& anything else I could fit into the oven---lots of different veggies-- made enough that tonight we can have leftovers--as I knew we would be gone most of today---- It is COLD & icey outside & a good excuse to warm up the oven again-- & just heat up leftovers!!

Barbequed pork chops, turnip greens mixed with collard greens, red beans and rice and biscuits. Maybe a pineapple upside down cake too.

Thrifty sarrah! Hey there! Hope you check back to this thread because I think you only get notification if'n you start it. And I started it and now have to change my post. Youngest came home from school with a case of the Erps. So, no dinner made for us at church tonight!

Scrambled together (no not eggs) some leftover chicken salad and made the kids grilled cheese sandwiches on the best white bread I'd ever made (from frugal moms forum which I am not going to pay for after it goes to paid membership) and some baked beans and oranges.
