Worst fears concerned - 6 weeks out!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'm sure we all know it by now but yes YKD is injured with a stress fracture and out for 6 weeks at least. He must be gutted but probably only marginally more than me!

Well we all forsaw the impact an injury to a major player would have. I suspect that our CL bid will be seriously affected.

i don't wish to rant and rave like yesterday but I can't help feeling that this was wholly avoidable. Not the injury but the lack of cover.

Trying to put a positive spin on this..............say he gets fit and is back in 3 weeks, this takes us to mid March. Can the team keep us in the top 4 or 5 until then, then Dyer returns to give us an extra push in the final few weeks and into a cl place???

Alternatively we drop down the league like a stone.............. :(

Sorry meant 6 weeks, wishful thinking there.

Hopefully Speed and Lee can regain fitness pdq. Even better if McClen can do a Shola and come on gangbusters. This is his big chance.

I'm not even entertaining the idea of the board giving Bobby money to spend because it won't happen. :-(

According to some reports we may recall Bassedas from the loan and other reports say we will be back in for Jenas. Emerton is too expensive at present but is one for the summer.

Just what impact would that be Lynda ? We haven't played Spurs yet, and as far as I can remember, we reached these dizzy heights mostly without Dyer's services.

I mean, the impression I've got over the last few days is that not many of us are expecting even a draw, so if we do lose tonight, nobody's expectations will be that frustrated.

In effect, this is nothing more than Dyer's first game out, so I think it's a bit early to be projecting the doom and gloom onto the rest of the season.

If Bobby's thinking along the same lines a lot of us are, we may as well start planning to cope with relegation.

Mind, if Barton plays tonight, we'll definitely lose.

Bliddy hell, it's just dawned on me. He's the bliddy London jinx. :-{E}

We're already safe from relegation! :-)

"Kieron Dyer has undergone a scan on his injured foot amid fears he has picked up a stress fracture that could sideline him for up to a month"

Teamtalk....

"Amid FEARS he has picked up a stress fracture."

"that COULD sideline him for up to a month."

Sounds like speculation to me.

Well Jim - nufc.com have confirmed it as a fracture and they are usually right. 6 weeks is probably worse case scenario.

In reply to you Bill - you are of course right, some of us i.e. me, are full of doom and gloom, I admit I am inclined to see things in black or white (!) I suppose it isn't a catastrophe (sp?).

Damn.

Just when we need a bit of luck to stay near the top and injuries arrive.

You don't see Arsenal losing Henry, Vieira, Pires and Campbell all at once do you?

Where would I be without you keeping me right Ciara ? :-{E}
