Awesome! That's why I stay home, too!

ah, that is where I am today also! And everyday. God is good, for allowing me to be able to stay home not only with my children, but my granddaughter as well. Sissy

I'm so blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and homeschool them as well. I think our society has forgotten just how much our kids need their parents!

Chuck - as a SAH mom, I would just like to say THANK YOU for supporting your wife and family. There are so many deadbeats dads out there who don't give a @$#! about their kids. It's so nice to see men who love and support their families. I'm sure there are lots of single moms out there who would love to clone you! :-)

My new post goes along with this thread. I had not seen this one yet, so it is kind of funny to see it after I posted "In defense of the modern day housewife!"

It is great to be able to stay home with your children, and I am also glad there are a few good men left in this world!

DH and were just discussing the working mother dilemma since he works with a few of them. There is a project coming up which will require them to be away for a few days and also a weekend. I asked him how they handle child care and he says that it is an on-going nightmare. They have husbands that also work, so who is raising these children? I wonder what morals, manners and ethics are being taught to these poor children.

My husband and I were just talking about this subject last evening. I was saying that I do wish that there was some way that I could help contribute to our income.

My husband then reminded me of all the things I already knew, but, just needed to hear again.

He reminded me of how much we are blessed to be able to have me homeschool the children, about, how much we save because I'm home and can make good meals, without having to buy quick convenience foods.

He reminded me that we save lots of money by not having to have the children in daycare. The extra expenses that come along with a working mom--clothes, an extra car, etc.

I love being a stay at home Mom, and, I am so thankful for a godly husband who enables me to be able to stay at home.

Hi Chuck,

What a lovely picture! I just want to remind all the folks out there that even though some women get to stay home, the majority of us have to work.

Not all of us are so lucky as to be able to stay at home with our children. I don't think that anyone should think any less of us that must go to work each day though.

My son's father died and even though I am remarried, I still work. My present husband runs the farm and does bring home income, but without his being on the farm, we would have to hire someone to run it for us. He also supports his two children from his former marriage. Not everyone has the "perfect" wife stays at home - husband works arrangement. It doesn't mean that we don't love our children or our husbands/wives.

I think it is great if a woman can stay home - just some of us weren't given that option. Myself, if I could walk away from my job today and never go back and stay home and garden, can, cook, clean, ride horses, etc. I would. But then, how would the farm get paid for? My husband, who is a blessing in disguise, does all the manual labor and the fix-it stuff on the farm as well. Stuff I used to hire people to do. When he worked and I worked also, nothing much got done here except on the weekends. Since I had benefits and he didn't, he quit and stayed home to work the farm. And I work.

I am sure there are other men who work on the farm and their wives work off the farm. Whether to bring in extra money or provide insurance, we are valuable contributors to the homestead as well.

Just my thoughts on the subject..

Cindy, I agree with you 100%. There are lots of stay at home Dads who do a great job as well. There are lots of women out there who do need to work outside the home. And God bless 'em! They need our support and encouragement more than most! However, there are a lot of couples though who are so caught up with the Making More Money Mentality that they seem to forget what's really important. I just think that if you're going to have children, and there's any way at all possible to do so, one of the parents should stay home with the kids.

Cheryl,

Thanks for your support - us Moms who don't get to stay at home appreciate others understanding that we too would like to be able to be at home. But in my case, giving up insurance before the farm is paid for and my salary too? No way! But in three years it might be a different story! Farm will be paid for, boychild will be nearly grown, and we have no other bills to speak of...but until then, we'll keep pounding away at the mortgage and putting money aside for the day when I do get to stay home.

Here's to all the stay at home dads who are there when we can't be!

I've been a stay at home mom since before our first child (now 25) was born. Her brother followed 3 years later. I homeschooled them through high school and now they are both married and we have one grandson who is 3 months old. I love staying at home to work on our acreage and around the home. I am free to do some volunteer work for church, teach a science class to some homeschool kids, help do some office work for my contractor husband etc. My husband has been most supportive of our way of life and praises me for the many things I am able to do since I am a stay at home lady.

Cindy,

I think you hit the nail on the head by saying that while you go to work because you must, (quite commendable, to be sure) you would take the opportunity to stay home if you could. I think most parents feel this way, for a variety of reasons, but mostly just because kids are SO MUCH FUN!

Wow - that's a really sweet picture - Since my daughter was born (9.5 months ago), I have never regretted my decision to stay home - I have never thought to myself "gee, I wish I were at work!" Just like you my husband was very supported - he wanted me home with her. THANK YOU for sharing - it's nice to know in this crazy world that there are many parents taking wonderful care of their children!

That picture says it all :) I have never regretted staying at home with my girls, and I feel blessed to have a husband who wants me here.
