It's Tyson Day

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Today's the day when Tyson gets the decision on whether he can fight or not. This morning on the radio I heard the chap who's in charge of (or on the panel of?) the Nevada State Licensing Board. He stated that he would listen to Tyson and his representatives and would make a decision based purely on the facts.

He seemed a good enough bloke, and refused to prejudge. He was adamant that he has been put under no pressure whatsoever from any parties with a vested interest in seeing the fight go ahead. Of course the cynics amongst us would be thinking 'well he would say that, wouldn't he?', but to be fair he appeared on the level.

Regardless of what I THINK ought to happen, my feeling is that Tyson WILL get his licence subject to some stupid rules about future conduct. I would be shocked and delighted were it to be otherwise, though.

The fight will go ahead because if not there'll be a major law suit. And I'm sure there'll be a financial reward to ease his conscience.

Plus Las Vegas needs the money after the sept 11 attacks. This will go ahead...money talks

espn said (after the evnt) that this was Tyson's get out clause. He doesn't want to fight, is scared of Lewis and this was the only way he could get out of fighting without backing down.

I seriously doubt that anything scares him. I wouldn't want to be left alone in the same room as him. And apart from Min I couldn't say that about anyone else ;-)

I think losing scares him. Anyway I'm just relaying waht the American media said..

On the basis that LV is 8(?)hours behind us, I suppose we won't get to know the result til knocking off time tonight at the earliest. Unless Ciara you know better?

Probably not unless it shows up as a headline on one of the news sites. Otherwise I may not know myself til I get home and watch the news. Providing I'm actually paying attention. ;-)

The fight will definitely go on, it's ALL about money, IMHO even the so called brawl was all about PPV.

Oh Oh, I could be way wrong there, watching the hearing live on TV here...

Tyson's just offered to withdraw his application!

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

And it's been revoked!!!

For quarter of a BILLION dollars (the figure I heard bandied about) surely it'll happen somewhere!

Shows you what I know! :-) I'm still sure someone somewhere will be willing to stage it.
