Use Nikon AF50mm F/1.8 Lens with Rebel 2000?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread |
Can I use the Nikon 50mm F/1.8 lens with the Canon EOS Rebel 2000 body? I prefer the Nikon lens over the Canon 50mm F/1.8. Will this work? Thanks.

No !!!!! no,no,no.nikon lenses work with nikon bodies. canon lenses work with canon bodies.
they are NOT interchangeable.

If you really want to you can buy an adapter.http://www.cameraquest.com/adapreos.htm

I don't see the point, myself. You'll lose the main advantages of Canon EOS - quick accurate autofocussing and electronically controlled apertures - at relatively little gain.
I'd only mess around with adapters if there's a huge cost savings or if you're looking to adapt a rare or expensive lens. The Nikon 50mm 1.8 doesn't represent either, in my opinion.

Thanks for the quick answers! I'll be getting the Canon with the Canon 50mm F/1.8 lens. Thanks again.

I might add that the Canon 50mm F1.8 is a very fine lens optically. If you can find a mark I version, so much the better.

Sorry about the adapter stuff..i myself was not aware of that. though it still does not seem logical to me.i myself have the canon eos-300 and the 50 mm f1.8 lens. it really is a neat lens. i got the lens just recently and am damn pleased with it.
