Peter's goal

Peterborough's 2nd goal shouldn't have counted. The BBC had their heads so far up Bary Fry's arse hat they forgot to mention Bernards disallowed goal when complaining about how we shouldn't have got a penalty.

But I would like to alert you to the fact that when their scond goal went in, A Peterborouh player was standing in an offside position. Not interfering with play? He didn't get a touch but he was staning right infront of Shay. I am NOT being fussy here. If you see it again it looks as thogh this extra player could have dramatically altered Givens chanes of seeing the shot early enough to get across to it.

Obviously now I can't look at it again and be sure he was offside. Does ayone have a video that they could analyse for me please?

I know it doesn't really matter now as we went through and thats all that matters. But if anyone could check I'd be grateful.

Jim I thought that as well son. The coverage was understandably biased and they were so sorry that Boro lost. They failed to point out the fact that we should have had a penalty to go 3-0 in all the after match chat instead choosing to focus on the "very hard decision" to give us penalty to 3-2 up. I noticed that the point you raised was conveniently missed by both the BBC and Sky. They're all tossers and we know it. Mind Gary Lineker tipped us to win the cup this year after the 3rd round victory over Palace.

Can't say I noticed it, but I'll have a look next time it's on the telly, good spot if it's right :)

I was too busy shouting expletives at our favourite left back for trying to do some sort of fancy backwards sidestep, letting their bloke past him. Another collector's item was when P'Boro were breaking quickly, Elliott ran towards the left wing, AWAY FROM THE BALL. Nobody was running down the wing, everything was in the middle, but Elliott obviously had watched Monty Python the night before and thought he was being chased by the "Knights that say NEE" (Well that's the only possible excuse for the poor bloke)

Sorry about that, went a bit off the point ;]

You just reminded me Paul that at 3-2 I was doing my nut at our defenders charging forward, and getting repeatedly caught out of position, when all we needed to do was kill the game.

I was actually still in active mid-scream at Aaron Hughes for charging up the wing in support of someone (Solano or CB) when Quinn chipped it across to guess who - yup, Hughesie - who was just stooping to nod it into the net! Doh!

our defenders charging forward, and getting repeatedly caught out of position????

Remind me Clarky - how many times did we repeat this feat between out 3rd and 4th goals? I must sill have been picking myself up from the terrace-floor when this was (allegedly) happening ;-)

In-split-initives?

Would you take a second or two to kindly run that by me again Screach ? :-{E}

I think the terror of the second half had built up so much all one could do was scream. I can't remember the last time I felt so physically ill from nerves! Though I hadn't had time to build up to screaming at the telly between Shearer and Hughes' goals. I think I was on the verge of bawling them out and it quickly turned to screams and clapping that woke my entire apt complex.

Completely off on a tangent, but anyone else notice Shearer trying hard to tune out the Toon Army while waiting for a corner toward the end? He couldn't hide the grin and finally waved to acknowledge the crowd chanting his name. Great moment. He'd been so tense going into the penalty, it seemed he just wanted the game over so he could celebrate. :-)

Yes, nice grin and wave from Shearer - he could hardly ignore us with the noise we were making!

Screacher - I don't recall saying this matter was prevalent only between the 3rd and 4th goals - but that was when it was not unaturally disturbing me the most. Nope, just checked and I didn't.

I think you'll probably find this was what lead to their 2nd goal.

I was splitting hairs. You said that you were reminded of it at 3-2. I agree tho, that's what contributed to their 2nd. ANother thing that worried me was leaving only Hughes and Acuna (or was it McClen) back when we had a corner.

Clarky I said something similar on the "central midfield" thread, about us going forward too much in the second half, so I totally agree with you. Great minds...

It could only have been BR though, as Hughes normally isn't confident enough to go that far forward. Acuna and Elliott were at times the last men back.

However, the match is won and best forgotten for now, the Spurs match is now on our agenda.
