man city match moved

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

As was always blindingly obvious...to Sunday Feb 17. No info yet on whether it's 1pm kick off for BBC1, 4pm for Sky or 7pm for BBC1.

Other games moved to Sunday:

Chelsea/West Ham v Preston

Everton v Crewe.

Don't know who gets first pick. Bet BBC would love it, I say love it, for 7pm. But the local constabulary might have a word or two to say.

Sorry...it's confirmed as 7pm BBC1.

Seriously? I figured the police wouldn't have gone for that one....given the fact that Man Shitty have a well known group of trouble makers.....

Fuck and it means i'll have to get a train back down at about 5am on monday morning!

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

Presume the police were consulted. Mind you, BBC had to change their mind about Arsenal v Liverpool at 7pm after the Met objected. It was, of course, moved to the 1pm kick off...when there was no danger of bad light stopping play in the Highbury Coin Throwing Tournament.

City fans got the OK for last night's 7pm FA Cup kick off at Ipswich, but it's, obviously, a different scale of game at SJP.

It's all extra money in the kitty for a midfielder/training ground/outstanding brothel bills.

What's the score with tickets? Scuse my ignorance, but presume season ticket holders get first option on their seats - followed by poss later open sale?

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

Damn. Gonna have to drive to Dc and won't be able to tape it. :-(

I need to move closer to DC!

Wonder if i can put a word in with the coppers? ;-)

Sorry...see from the official site that majority of season ticket holders get "free" home Cup tickets as part of the package. So presume that means there'll just be the usual few thousand left for general sale?

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

News to me!

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

so what's the score with tickets then?!

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

You got me going there Benton. Turns out the 'expensive' seats don't get free cup tickets. Not only do they rip me off for £38 a match the buggars won't give free tickets either.

These freebies clearly explain why we get bigger cup crowds.

http://www.nufc.co.uk/tickets/seasontickets.htm

Majority of ticket holders do get freebies as can be seen here. Only the mugs don't.

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

No we don't get free cup tickets.

Last season the platinaum ST holders got free cup tickets, but the price reduction this year means they don't get them anymore.

Normal season tickets certainly don't have free cup tickets.

How much are they for this game? £20 or will it be more?

Don't expect to get accurate news from .cock. Better to look on .com for anything useful. ;-)

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

It may actually be quite difficult to get tix for this as they will have a 5000 allowance. It may be in the best interests of non-ST holders if they do hold it at a stupid time as it will increase the likelihood of everyone who wants one getting a ticket...

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

That's right - it seems nee bu99a gets freebies from that link (www.perverselogic.com). I'm in a "supplementary" section and not even sure if I'll be guaranteed a ticket mesel' when Dougal applies.

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

The Bondholders got 'free' (hah!) tickets for a few seasons, but I'm fairly certain that is now all finished. I'd be surprised if there are very many who qualify for 'free' Cup tickets at all now - except of course for the several thousand "buckshees" that are still regretably prevalent.

Season ticket holders will presumably be given apoplication priority, and with at least 5,000 going to Man City, I doubt there will be too many left for general sale - perhaps a couple of thousand.

That is something that makes me laugh. The suggestion that someone who pays £1000 for a ST and gets Cup matches chucked in is getting something free....

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

I can't believe that ST holders will have a problem getting tickets if their applications are in on time.

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

All normal season ticket holders will get their seats if they apply on time. Man City have to get 5000 which is the maximum that big clubs take (Man U and Liverpool etc, oh and Sunderland get it as well I think).

If all season ticket holders take up their seats then it'll just be like a normal league game as fas as likelihood of tickets goes.

We go away this weekend every year (kids hols) meeting up with friends from Nottingham. The only chance I had of getting to this game was if it was moved to 7pm on the Sunday, mmmmmm, happy. May even, 4 tickets together permitting, take Lady Macbeth as well as Ben and the lucky Cup mascot Isla. Only slight concern is my wife seeing me being so emotional at Keegan's return.

It's actually something in my eye

So when the tickets go on general release, will they be sold at the ground or will they be sold over the phone?

-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002

Unsurprisingly, the official site still doesn't have the news that the match has been moved - even though it was announced yesterday PM. Do they all go home before tea?

Would expect any tickets left for general sale to be in person and poss on the phone...though getting anyone to answer is an entirely different thread. But, as already pointed out, the larger away allocation for FA Cup games could leave very few tickets.

Do they just expand the usual away area in the corner - just below the final glide path for Newcastle Airport - and spread visiting Cup fans sideways, or is the away end in a different section of SJP to cater for the 5,000?

I'm on a rare visit home with my young daughter - who is, naturally, a Newcastle fanatic. So any ticket news would be appreciated.

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

For Premiership League games each side has to guarantee 10% up to 3000 seats for visiting fans. This used to cause problems when we had 36000 seats and 34,000+ season ticket holders but shouldn't now. They will just extend the block further around the top Tier

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

Better than giving away fans another block in the Gallowgate corner ala Sheff Utd a couple years ago. Perfect way to drown out the few home supporters actually singing! Though I expect the home crowd for this match won't be quite so quiet. :-)

Full ticket details have now gone on the official site.

As well as being able to apply for their own ticket, Season Ticket holders can also apply for additional tickets, if available. Platinum Club members, qualifying Bond Holders and Season Ticket holders using the Cup Tie Direct Debit Scheme get their normal seats.

Waiting List and Club United Members can also apply.

Any remaining tickets will go on general sale on Monday Feb 11th. Can't imagine there'll be many - if any - left. Can't drive all the way back to Benton to watch it on the bloody telly!

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

Course you'll be able to get one....the expensive seats are always on sale....

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

Hope you're right Gav.

Bit concerned by the club info:

1) Re Platinum Club Members: "No action is required. To gain admission members should tender Cup Voucher O4 from their cup voucher booklet at their appropriate entrance on the day of the game. YOU MUST BRING YOUR COMPLETE SEASON TICKET BOOK AND SIT IN YOUR NORMAL SEAT."

2) And same info re qualifying Bond Holders to simply turn up at the turnstiles with the correct documents.

That seems to leave open the prospect of poss empty seats if the ticket holder concerned doesn't turn up that Sunday night and/or doesn't pass their voucher etc on to someone else...while other fans are locked out. Or am I missing something here?

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

its always like that with every league game with season ticket holders, they pays their money and they can get in if they turn up, or they can leave their seat empty if they wish to
