A Grand Posh Day Oot (Match Thread)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread |
Starting the match-day thread early, 'cos if I don't, I'll never get there in time. Stealth Astra © fuelled upa nd last minute chaechs underway. Caterers just putting the final touches to the food (3 bags of crisps, a bottle of Coke and some left-over Christmas cake) and we should be off pretty soon. If time permits, the cabin crew will be handing out a copy of the Geordie Beano on the way. Co-pilot for the day is Pete the Ploughman - it may be a long day ahead!!Flight plan has been lodged with the new air-traffic control at Swanwick and we expect to be flying low over the Longfram Moors by 9:45. Flight path then heads sooth on the A1 and A19 with a diversion via West Monkseaton Aerodrome to pick up Biggles Softie then a fly-past thru Ryton to pick up Steph. Finally we'll be headed for Consett to pick up Dougal before picking up the A1(M) at Durham. After that, we expect to take up formation with the 1000's of other members of the Toon Army as we head for rendezvous at Lahndaan Road.
Over and out Roger. If Roger's not there, perhaps one of the other Oz Clique can tell him.

Hi guys.TV in Denmark will not show the game !!! They've shown all the others !!! Midd vs Man U yesterday and now Arse-Pool. They told med that the would not show the game because of the Euro champ in handball, where Denmark will be playing at the same time !!!! The didnt think there would be enough viewers..........damn !!!
I'll be here !!

2 hours to kick off, still can't say I'm too excited about it.The prospect of an A level Physics exam tomorrow doesn't help like :(
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
So the match is definitely on? Haven't found any reports on the 'net saying it's been postponed. Webcasts of Radio 5 are blacked out, and BBC World Service(which I finally managed to dial in!!) are doing Holocaust Day ceremonies all morning.Off to order the ppv....or jump in the car in head to DC if ppv isn't on. TOON TOON!!

They kept the news about Dyer quiet. I'm hoping this 'sore foot' is something BR is using to keep YKD fresh for the Spurs game. We have this hard game on a rotten pitch and play again on WEdsnesday. Spurs had a nice relaxing weekend off.YKD picked up a bit of a knock v Leicster didn't he? Lets hope he's OK with a couple of days rest.
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
I am looking forward to this less and less
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Yes Pete me too! I'm off now to watch. (PC not in same room as telly) See you all for post match chat.
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Responded on the other thread, but I'll post here too. I'm certainly far more nervous now. Though this would be a fine opportunity for McClen, Bernard and Acuna to play out of their skins. 20min to go...I wish they had prematch coverage over here. It would calm my nerves a bit.

No webcast, no TV. What is the deal with Dyer then? Has he picked up another injury or just rested? (Just waiting for KD or AS to break down and practically killing our season.)Howay the Lads!
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Not sure if they have a web-cast but BBC 5-live are covering the game Vatos. Goal-line clearance and we sound under the kosh. HOWAY THE LADS!
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
After Shearer fluffing a great opportunity scrambled clearance off the line by Solano...Heart stopping Posh should have done better

-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Posh are giving us some problems at the back..We keep giving possession away. The pitch is not really made for fancy footwork but we really should do better.Bellamy looking good when he gets the ball upfront
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
35min gone whats happening guys?
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Bellamy currently getting treatment Not serious Edwards booked for tackle from behindhe is up & ok now

-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
McClen2 - 0
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Not exactly a classic but Posh are trying hard or at least they were.We are several classes ahead in most positions. McClen despite his goal doesn't look that good... You know passing to the guys in blue.
TOON Army in cracking voice.
HT --- thoughts of Kieron Dyer to come after the adverts
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
We're battling and scrapping, but so are they. This one definitely isn't over yet. I won't be comfortable until we're at least 4 goals ahead of them. Still, as long as we keep battling we should be ok.WOO!!!! Dyer commentary on over here!!!
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Morning Gus, Bit hard to take this, the not knowing that is.
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Dyer says YBR warned them that P'boro's set pieces are where they're most dangerous. Also thinks McClen is one of the best players in the resorves and pleased about his goal.Interesting...just before going to commercials they cut to a camera in the Posh dressing room. Barry Fry yelling and the players wandering around not appearing to be paying attention. And for any interested females (or males if that's your thing)....they were all dressed! ;-)
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
What Dyer commentary?Anyone give us a quick round up of performances player by player? Just a couple of words each, who is on the bench, starting 11?
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Try Planet football for team news Gus
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Hey spence, hows things? Your holiday nearly over! I'm watching Glory at the mo, couldn't get tonight. Mrs gus called in to work, she is on call!Yes not knowing is hard, not worth while staying up, almost!!!
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
starters: Given, Hughes, O'Brien, Distin, Elliott, Solano, McClen, Acuna, Bellamy, Shearer. Not sure who is on the bench.
Hard for me to give player by player comments as I"m having a helluva time trying to tell them apart! It's not helped by it appearing that our midfield players (except Bernard) are playing all over the bliddy place.
Earlier, Martin Tyler commented that our back 4 were really banding together today. My thought is that they need to because they aren't getting alot of help from midfield! ;-)
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
2nd half just started! See you all after. TOON TOON!!
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Dyer Comments"Peterborough the better side" "It's great for us to be 2-0 up"
Nick name for McClen is Santa Clause apparently when being booked and the ref asked his name he said "Santa Clause" so got a red card instead of yellow. Professional eh!
Part 2 just commenced
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Bernard tripped in the box definite penalty - not giveneven Andy Gray thought this was a penalty

Morning folks, couldn't sleep, lurkin' and watchin, we'll score at the right end just watch, takes me ages to post up so rpob won't reply too much (trading the PC in for one that works hopefully eh Andy?)
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Thanks for that spence and ciara
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Just what are you watching Rog?4am is easy ADK, its going to bed at 0200 and up at 0600 thatis the problem
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Bernard just had a great run on the left crossed in for Bellamywho managed to play it behid himself away from the goal
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
Argh!! Bellamy's pace made him miss a chance at an open goal. He was moving so fast he was able to stop the ball, but momentum carried him right past before he could shoot. This is nervewracking!!! Posh have new energy and we were panicking a bit. Looks like things are settling down a bit now.
-- Anonymous, January 27, 2002
What the bliddy hell happened? Here's me back at work enjoying the sensual delights of the weekends match thread as usual only to suffer a horrible case of threadus interruptus. Did we hang on at 2-1? Did the Boro Boyz scrap for a replay? Did Ciara eat all of her humble pie? Come on guys and gals can someone finish the thread or have I got to have a cold shower?
-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002
Dread, I believe the BBS crashed/went down
-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002
Dread, the thread is (sort of) continued on the DailyToon bbs at http://www14.brinkster.com/dailytoon/bbs2.asp
-- Anonymous, January 28, 2002
Well, not much of a match thread there folks, I've finally managed to get on to the 'net here in Cuba - at 4 quid a minute and so, so slow I'm off again.Canny result like
