20 million

An article in Soccernet with qoutes allegedly from YBR saying IF he had 20 million he knows exactly who he would buy and that those players would significantly increase our chances of winning the Championship.

'Those players....?'

..... and entirely contradictory to other stories running suggesting that money would be made available if there was a player that BR really wanted.

The reality is that we have no money to buy anyone; no money to provide training facilities for our highly-valued playing squad; and no money to sort out the Youth Academy.

In fact, it is almost certainly true that BR recently had to stage a screaming match to even get £50k spent to relay what is euphemistically referred to as "the SJP pitch".

Of course, we WILL spend the available money from ST sales in the summer - but only after we have blown a fantastic opportunity to win the PL Championship for the want of one or two judicious signings - almost precisely the same mistake we made at the same time last season.

BTW any suggestions that we will spend £40mm in the summer are fanciful dreams - we haven't got it.

Agreed - I find it surprising that we seem unable to cobble together a few million quid to strengthen the squad, given the likely rewards Championd League football would bring, but equally 40 million seems an extraordinary figure to bandy around. Unless of course we're planning on selling Kieron Dyer......

It's a joke - when I think of the millions wasted by Dalglish and Gullit, I despair.

I read today that Liverpool are looking to bring in some new players before the end of Jan and Man U have splashed out. We will struggle along with what we've got and as has already been said miss out on a good opportunity to really do something this season.

The lack of money for training facilities etc is also a joke. Especially when I read in the Sunday Sun that Douglas Hall wants to buy some second division Spanish club. He's not real that bloke.
