Welllll, I think furries might be the tribbles from both the original and the second Trek series.

I qualify as a #2 geek, although I did once win $25 for a story I wrote, I don't think just one SF story makes me an author...

For the record, I do NOT speak Klingon. Well, ok, a few words, but that was accidentally absorbed on a visit to a Klingon website, which I clicked on accidentally while searching for a picture of Picard in the buff. So it isn't my fault that the Klingon equivalent of "your mother has a smooth forehead" is a deadly insult.
