I don't have a DVD-R burner, but in theory, you should be able to burn SVCD into it with any kind of burning software that supports the format, such as Nero (www.ahead.de). If you have more specific questions, you might post them to the SVCD forum at network54.com/Hide/Forum/70438. This is a VCD forum, mostly for newbies, and your question is off topic and quite advanced for this forum.

If you have DVD-R why not go all the way and create DVD for maximum compatibility? You can lift the original MPEG-2 file off the SVCD, re- encode it with TMPGenc using the DVD template, and author a DVD with it. Of course you got to have a DVD-authoring program, and possibly a separate audio encoder of some sort (Dolby Digital?) because most DVD players do not recognize MPEG Layer 2/3 audio on DVDs (only Dolby Digital and DTS :))...

re-encoding the svcd track autoring a DVD will not yeild any higher quality than the original svcd would have yeilded. So why take the extra time. Plus by using the original file format you can have almost 3 times the amount data and on the dvd-r disk, about 9-10 hours if you do it right
