Some good deals!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I just wanted to let you know that if the "spend and bring the country out of recession" theory of economics is not working, it is not my fault!! We have spent plenty at Lowe's the last few days!!

Really though, if you need new appliances, they are having some great sales on some good items. The prices are really low right now. For example the stove we bought was marked dwon to $199, and it is really nice, and was much more expensive than that originally (I think it was $449.) They are also delivering it for free. My old one had only 2 working burners, and one of them only worked on high, and the oven had only 1 rack, so I thought this was a great deal on this appliance.

Thanks, Melissa. I'll try to do my part, too (as if the tractor and three dump trucks aren't enough). My daughter and her husband are building a new home now and money is tight for them. She's full time in Indiana University law school and he's just started working part time on his MBA at the Kelly School of Business at IU along with working. I'm thinking this could be a nice opportunity for old Dad to be a hero here. ;o)

Their apartment lease ends June 1 and the house looks like it could be done as soon as mid-March with this weather. Fortunately, they're under no obligation to close before May 1. Any problem storing something like boxed appliances in a barn for a couple months?

I don't think it would hurt anything, just make sure that frig and freezer are stored standing up, but I'm sure you know that already!

Gary----we have bought households for many-many years----& along with all the furniture there are appliances----we have stored them until we sold them---for the ref--you might want to store it with newspapers or a pan of charcoal in side of it--- also you may want to cover the stove top before you box it-- make for sure there is no moisture on any surfaces or inside any before you store them--- each fall when we winterize our motor home---I leave the ref door open a crack--& put a pan of charcoal in the botton of it---

When inflation was running wild we bought a houselot of appliances before the house was built and we did have a problem. When it came to installation time the washing machine was DOA with an expired warranty. No big deal but I was sure annoyed until the dealer saw us right.
