On Microsoft word, you can click on tools and it should be there, a spelling and grammar check.

I am refering to the program that corrects email, can you give me step by step kindergarden version to it? It was here when I got the puter, but had it removed because it was too annoying. It would say wrong, wrong, wrong and not offer any options. I want to see if there are option settings.

If you're using Outlook Express, spellcheck is under Tools, Options and then Spelling.

There is still a step missing, I clicked tools, internet options, and read the 6 tab that appeared all the way through, no mention of spelling, can you take a quick look and see whats missing. Which of the 6 tabs is it on?

Where do you access email? My system has spelling F7 when I hit tools during email, it will highlight but do nothing else, F7 key does not respond either.

I have Windows 98 with Outlook Express 5. When my hard drive died awhile ago, I had it replaced and got a different updated Outlook Express. My original one on my Windows 98 was 4.5 version and did not have spellcheck on it for e-mail. Under the Outlook Express 5, you go to "tools" and under "tools' you click onto "options'. A whole list of goodies will appear as if in file folders: "General", "Security", "Connection" and "Maintenance". When you click onto "General", another page opens up..this section allows you to select one of the following :"Read", "Send" "Compose" "Signatures" and "Spelling". When you click "Spelling", yet another page appears with check boxes to select exactly how you would like to check e-mail spelling..i.e. ignore capitalized words? ignore words with numbers in them? ignore the original text of a forwarded e-mail?, etc. I am going to guess that although you have Windows 98, you have an earlier version on your hard drive of Outlook Express. When you click on Outlook, see if you can catch the # when the initial page flashes by. Hope this has helped.

I have the exact same problem with Windows ME and IE 5.0 , IE 5.5 and IE 6.0. Under options spelling is not an available tab. I completely understand that the tab is suppose to be there and I know where to look. THe tab is not there and when you compose a message the spelling option is grayed out. HELP

for some strange reason you need to install ms office on your computer for the spelling tab you appear... sounds stupid, but its the answer.... bye

I think you need to have something like MS word. Some program with a dictionary. I don't think spell-check is inherent in the OS or Outlook.
