softy storage

somehow following up my earlier post about the battery compartment, did anyone ever try to make a gadget to attach a soft-release to the strap? where do you keep yours?

I keep mine where it belongs -- screwed into shutter release button. I always carry my M6 with uncocked shutter (in the bag). For those rare occasions when I use tripod and cable release I just put softie in my pocket and when I'm done shooting I put it right back.

I find softie the most enjoyable camera accessory that I ever had.

On the camera of course?! I never take mine off but if you do, and you like grips, Tom A.'s Rapidgrip has a threaded hole to mount your SoftRelease on when you are not using it. It would also be very simple to glue on your strap a piece of plastic with an appropriate sized hole. The SoftRelease has a tapered thread so the hole size need not be exact.

My M6's all came with built-in storage compartments for my softies -- there is a small threaded recepticle right on top of the shutter- release button that holds them perfectly -- no other case or compartment needed! Pretty clever, eh?

;-) Cheers,

I must say the number of sexually-oriented puns prompted by this question is substantial. (e.g. In that state, storage is the only viable alternative.)
