Gregory.

Last week we were all shocked by Gregory's huge amount of uncalled for praise for Newcastle United. He said we were the only team he feared and was very complimentary to BR. Now he quits..

Perhaps he fancies himsef as BR's succesor?

It was a pure pleasure to be at SJP the day we played top of the table Villa. Villa were big, confident, well organised, we took them on and made bliddy mincemeat of them. Gregory was right to praise us as he did but he's still a twat.

ROTFLMAO!!! Have you ever considered a career as a translator, Dougal? You're a natural!

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2002

I think the 3rd line translates better as: "Blame everyone else, whinge, moan, complain, not enough money, crap players, the media, the fans, blame, whinge, moan.

Other than that, you're spot on :-))

I don't like Gregory but anyone who puts up with Doug Ellis as his boss for 4 years has got guts. I wouldn't work for Ellis if he paid me a million quid a week. The man is a complete and utter gold plated arsehole.

'..I wouldn't work for Ellis if he paid me a million quid a week..'

Yes you would. :-{E}

Best one this month Dougal. Keep up the good work. :-{EÎ}

A million quid pw and a work permit, and I'll be on the next flight! I'm sure I could manage Villa. Ok, so they might wind up relegated but that's being nitpicky. ;-)

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2002

No I wouldn't. Honestly. Because for a million quid a week I dread to think what Ellis would want. I simply couldn't work for such a sly, scheming, underhand, patronising git like him for any money. I want to be able to sleep at nights thank you.

£1m a week would do me, I'd manage 2 weeks of paid holiday leave then retire.

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2002

Got it in one, Paul. Even without the holiday, I'd give it a go for a couple of weeks. :-{E}

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2002

You;d never last! They'd have you out in less than half a day ;-)

Just spoke to my Villa mate about this. He says that it's a myth that JG hasn't been given money: he got all of the Dwight Yorke money and chose to buy Dublin, Merson, Watson and Stone with the money (plus a bit that Doug had given him) and was authorised to make an £18 million bid for Alan Shearer which was rejected. He has subsequently bought Angel, Baloban (sp??), Alpay, Mellberg, Hadji, Kachloul, David James, getting more than was brought in by the sales of Ekioghu and Southgate. He adds that Villa's gates bring in less revenue than Everton's and that Ellis has actually been as generous as he can possibly be.

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2002

The simple fact is that Villa have only lost £14m from transfers over 4 years. This is absolutely nothing for a Premier League club, especially if they have aspirations of playing in the Champions' League.

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2002

They don't, however, have gates to support yearly UEFA challenges, let alone CL challenges.

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2002

True, very true. Their fans whing on about how they don't have any money, yet they never turn up for matches.

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2002

I agree, Paul. In all of this, blame can be attached to DE and JG 9it seems) and no one is pointing the finger at the stayaways..
