Finally, live healthy kits. After losing the first two litters this is such great news. 4 Does kindled. 2 have 9 kits, 1 has 10, and the other has 5 plus it looks like 1 more is getting close. When and how do you determine if you should foster some out? Shouls I take some from the doe with 10 and give to the one with 5? Thanks.

Thanks Pat, I was mistaken, there was 12 in the litter. I took 2 out and fostered them to the doe with 5. Cant do much more since the other have 9. Maybe the other will have hers tonight and I can foster a couple more. I cant believe the sizes of these litters.

Yes, I would take *two* from the litter of 10 and give to the doe with 5 kits. This ensures the best possible conditions of survival for all. The key to is remember is: the goal to strive for is litters of 8. Now, this doesn't meant that the two with 9 won't or can't raise them all, as that remains to be seen, yet.

I agree with Pat, I frequently foster kits so the litters are even. At this moment have two Californians in with 3 Havana babies, Havana mom does fine even with babies getting as big as her! Denise
