Lens Hood 2/2.8 Elmarit

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Can anybody tell me if leica do a square Hood cover to fit the 21, like the 35/2 summicron ASPH has today, would be nice to have the lens protected when the hood is on,

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards Paul

Paul, All current Leica lenses come with clip-on or sliding hoods. The 21/2.8 hood is of the rectangular clip-on variety, and can be purchased separately at your Leica dealer. If that fails, Leica Camera HQ in Solms has parts and accessories for products built within the last 30 years. Call them at: Telephone: +49 (0)6442 208- 106. Good luck.

Which 21 are you refering to?

If it is the 21/2.8 Elmarit non-Asph, the answer is no. It would be very easy to make one out of leather. Also there are slip-on neoprene hood caps made for the Nikon and Canon lenses. I am sure a small one of these would work.

Thanks for the feedback, I might have been a bit misleading, in so much as I really meant the lens cap (if there was one to fit the hood)

John, it is the pre ashp model with the rectangular hood, it would be nice to have the hood on at all times, CAPPED with a lens cap thus protecting the lens while the hood was still attached.

It seems like every time I talk about hoods or caps I loose one, today I lost my Noctilux cap !!!

John,

Here's what works for me on that lens: a circular E60 clip-on cover (#14290), like the one that came with my 75 lux (old type). Why? Because on both lenses I reverse mount the hoods on their bayonets. That makes for a compact lens and an accessible filter thread...;o) BTW, saw such a hood in a shop window recently for USD 30. Looked like a bargain. Anybody interested?
