Nikos speaks: We didn't conceive a goal

We needed the 3 points - 20/01/2002

I was very disappointed with our performance during the Leicester game. Although at the second half we played better than the first half it was not enough to win the important 3 points. When you are the top of the table and you play a team from the bottom you only think about winning. If we want to keep our league positions we ought to win this sort of games. The only positive thing about the game was our solid defence, as we managed not to conceive a goal.

As I am banned from the FA Cup game I will have some time to rest. If we want to be considered as a top club there should be no questioning whether or not we should qualify, when playing with teams from lower divisions. I am sure that the rest of the lads will do whatever it takes for the team to qualify.

I will return to action against Tottenham. After our recent performances I believe we can get something from this game, if not the three points. However they managed to beat us at St James Park, back in October, and I am sure that they will try their best to do it once more.

Well, unfortunately he's right - we didn't "conceive" a goal!

We didn't conceive a goal because all of our attacks were abortive. :- {E}

I thought it was because we weren't up for it and couldn't shoot.
