Is robotic hip replacement surgery available yet in the US or Canada? If so is it considered reliable and preferred to other methods? My father needs THR and we live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Where would be the very best place to take him if this procedure is available?

Robotic hip surgery is in its infancy. It is not yet certain that it is better than conventional hip surgery. Total hip replacement practiced in the conventional way is very successful.

I am 64 and researching since I need THR on one side. Because I am not prepared to wait 18 -2 24 months I have been looking in the UK, USA and Belgium. There is an interesting procedire called Zimmer MIS 2 incision method which has patients out of hospital in 2 days, since no soft tissue damage is done to muscles and tendons.

So far I have not located a Canadian source and have not yet determined whether our medical system would contribute at least a portion of the cost.

It would seem to me that this is the closest to the robotoic surgery that you are looking for.

I live in Pitt Meadows, BC and am totally disgusted with the failure of our system.

the Zimmer two incision total hip is available in canada but beware most prominent surgoens are staying away from this procedure because it is vert dificult and there are numerous complications being reported. No peer reviewed litrature is available yet to show that it is safe or that it is better. Beware
