Clippers for goats

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Hi everyone, I just purchased a clipper set (stewart/oster) the clipmaster. It came with only one blade (an all purpose blade) Does anyone know what size of blade I need to get to trim goats for shows, and for cooling in summer heat? And where I can purchase these, I understand I will need at least two, so that I may have an extra always. Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does it say something like the A3AU or something like that on it? We used that for whole body trimming, then would go back with a surgical blade and do udders. Some folks use this for the body, then use a A5 or something similar, smaller, to do faces and legs. Once you have done alot of goats, you can do the whole body with your large clippers. Keep a can of transmission fluid and dip the hot blades into it, keeps them running fast. Vicki
