What is done every year on Poe's birthday, at his grave?

I got this from a website (www.rotten.com) "Poe is buried in the Old Western Burial Ground in Baltimore, Maryland. Every January 19, Poe's birthday, for more than fifty years a man dressed in black and fedora has left cognac accompanied by three red roses on Poe's grave."

personaly I think that when you go on sites to get info on or about things and you see that someone, obviously not mature has put something that bashes another culture it's not only a complete trun off to the site but to that person as well. Your a very sick individual.

I have really enjoyed the information at this site. 30 seconds of nastiness certainly didn't ruin it for me. And this is still America, freedom of speech............I wonder what Edgar would've thought of the internet? Thanks to the contributors of this site, I learned a few things!!

How did this turn into a discussion about Jews?! (Just to follow the thread, I like Jews, almost all I've met have been quite nice to me. Anyone who dislikes a culture as a whole for no logical reason is an ignorant fool)

i think that poe is a freako that had nothing better to do than to write weirdo stories to freak people out. i have to readit in my language class and i dont understand a single thing he saids!!(mabye because im only in 8th grade!!), i think its just a waist of time. (by the way, i like jews)

Frankly, Poe was a little weired but there are few writers that are not. Poe did write some great things, and not all of them are that morbid. He did do some great love poems in his day, and just because he was a rebil of his time does not make him a freak. With a little resurch on Poe's life you would find (other then a few crazy things) he is a very intresting person.

good god! i didn't want to get involved in this silly argument, but twice I've read people saying 'I like Jews'. how weird are you? is that not as random and stupid as saying 'i ike blacks', or 'i like whites'. stop me if i'm wrong, but can we ever truely define an individual from their creed or religion or race? i think not. people are all different, and as much a there a great people who are Jewish out there, i bet there are some real freaks as well. I don't judge people with broad statements, but take everyone on an equal and fair basis, then make my mind up. O yeah, Poe is not a weirdo who like freaking people out solely (though i imagine this was part of his point), but a serious intellecyual who opened new passages in world literature. don't slate what you don't understand, leave it to the people who can read and write properly, and are beyond thinking that watching the Simpsons is the high point of life.
