Wot ! No penalties ?

Or sendings off. Or own goals. I think that there is a conspiracy to prevent you from winning the league. It must be nearly 8 dyas since you had to play 10 men and have an own goal in your favour. Its a bloody scandal.

Come on SK - you can hardly blame the Toon if their football is so magical it makes the opposition resort to dastardly tactics to stop them! What I do think is a bloody scandal though, is that Savage was allowed to remain on the pitch yesterday. I mean he should be automatically booked for that haircut as soon as the whistle blows - then he got a second yellow so WHAT WAS HE DOING ON THE PITCH?! I think we should be told.

WHAT WAS HE DOING ON THE PITCH? F@rting around??

I would expect Sunderland supporters to see it like that. Still - every team that wins the league needs a bit of luck. The plight your lot are in SK - you could do with a bit yourself!

life would be so much easier if we just knew we were going to score one goal a game, 10 out of 13 home games this season Sunderland have scored one goal.

No visiting side who has scored at SoL this season has lost, there's something for us to break !!

But how many teams have scored at the SoL?

Hmm, he's getting giddy because Sunderland scored yesterday.

He's right, of course, it was pure luck that we beat Leeds last week...having four goals disallowed in five games was us being lucky. The fact that our pace means that people hack us and get carded/give away penalties is yet more good luck. In fact, we are just jammy bastards.

i was slightly surprised it wasn't mentioned last week that we've started to lose the plot. against Man U, Bolton, Boro the opposition had a player sent off and we scored 4 goals, we've now played both Leeds and Arsenal and only scored 3 when they have had a player sent off, it's a slippery slope

luckily Sunderland are not a dirty team so there is no chance they'll have a player sent off trying to cope with our pace

Yes, our current league position is entirely down to luck, we're really crap. Sunderland's league position is also false, they're a top notch, freescoring side who deserve to be in a Champions League spot.

Unless I'm mistaken Sunderland have had a few penalties lately.....

All of which were sweetly dispatched, weren't they?

-- Anonymous, January 21, 2002

no one can ever accuse SK of getting to the top of the goalscoring charts through scoring lots of penalties

-- Anonymous, January 21, 2002

in fcat no one can accuse any Sunderland players of trying to get to the top of the goalscoring charts, allegedly Reid fines any player other than Quinn or Phillips if they score

Interestingly enough, Sunderland haven't had a single player sent off this season. Is this why they are lower down the league? Have they lost their edge?

Probably not. They just don't have Hutchison and Rae tackling players' waists anymore.

Actually, Kev, you must be feeling optimistic. Smogs at home next which you're bound to win while we play Spurs away which we are pretty much guaranteed to lose...

The London jinx makes its long awaited return!

Nah, just the Spurs jinx. ;-)
