old folder redux

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Recently purchased a Franka Rolfix Jr., a 6x9/6x6 folder off e-bay. This is my second one, the first one purchased many years ago. Un- fortunately, it died an utimely death in a car accident. I heard once that these cameras were made by Rollei. I think the lens has a single-layer anti reflect coat. Also, at the low end of the f-stop scale is the term automatic. I have noticed this on another old folder that I own with the same type shutter. Any one have any info on these two items, or the camera in general? thanx

"automatic" might be a reference to an automatic film transport, i.e., the shutter is wound when the film is advanced.

"Franka" reminds me of the "Franke" in "Franke & Heidecke", the Rollei manufacturer. So it could be.

I just noticed that there is an "FW" embossed on the inside of the front cover beneath the bellows. It is the inside portion of the de- vice that folds down on the outside of the cover to keep the camera upright in the vertical. "FrankeWerkes"? Jim
