Forbidden leeching for KOD ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Hi

I look to the great inp of hebo@... He play great and finish the game with the first weapon of the game. But he make a leeching in round 6 who seem strangely the same kind of leeching than Ghosts'n Goblins : Make tons of points in one spot without make anything else than Up Down Shoot. And that for hours... Its very boring and its not in the spirit of the King of Dragons. I propose to make the same Special Rules than for gng : make leeching with only one life. If this life is dead, the player must continue the game normally without further leeching in that spot.

Thanks to think for that.

such suggestion should be done after doing the trick by yourself.
it is not easy trick for poor players like me.

There are so many tricks in MARP that are "pretty" lame(Two for all:Wardner and My Hero),that I don't think that the one in the king of dragons is to be banned...

I try to made it and its not so difficult you said. I made 1M5-2M in my first try in the stage 6. Whith little training I can make a score near 10 M. I don't know if I can make higher but it's possible. When an human beeing make something, another human beeing can make the same. The only thing : I haven't the time to spend for 'playing' during 2 hours for make a score like that. And for me this leeching is not in the spirit of Kod.

But I see Hebo make a new score without leeching. A great score we'll make hard to beat. And Hiso is a great player.

This has been brought up at #marp once or twice, and there are two reasons why I disagree with outlawing the leeching. First, it IS hard to do and Hebo has put a lot of effort into doing it very well (as evidenced by the several recordings he made with incrementally better scores). Second, it still can't be done forever yet. I don't know KOD much at all so I could never say if it is possible to do it forever, but until somebody can I don't feel it's an issue.

I understand, Brian. And if the final decision is to accept this leeching, its ok. But in this case, why you forbid the one on Ghosts'n Goblins ? There are no free life forever (the last is at 980K) so the leeching can't be make forever. The question is not to know if the leeching can be made or not forever but if it denature the game. For gng it denature it and for kod too. And it's not for lowering the great performance of Hebo. He prove in his last recording, where he don't take any weapon or defence item, he's The King of Dragons. Congrats Hebo.

Personally, I think ANY leeching is of poor spirit. Regardless of ones ability to "do it well", is not the point. The idea is to get from point A to B, no to see how long you can do a given "trick" to rack up points.

Is not the very definition of leeching "repeditive actions, resulting in gaining points without advancing"???

It seems to me that this issue is that exactly.

From the posts above it seems that regardless of the leeching hes able to finish the game without doing this and still attain an incredible score. Congratz.

A possible solution is to have 2 areas for scores. One for leeching scores and one for non-leeching. How feesible this is is another story.

Anyhow enough of my perception on this topic.

BLAH!
should 2areas for Finish and non-finish first.leech/non-leech is very small factor.
Finish/loop first >ALL MARPer.
