How much hard drive space is required for capturing VHS to AVI (MB/min.)?

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I have a related one - How do you capture VHS to your PC - do you connect the camera or the VCR (I no longer have a VHS camera, but I do have a VCR)

Video can be captured most easily using a video card that has a means of video input. i.e. S-VIdeo, RCA, or coax

It depends on what codec was used for AVI. For example, a standard popular codec currently used is the fixed-resolution DV type-1 codec, which, at 3.5mb/s will require 2GB of HDD space per 9min. or so of capture. This is only an example. There are hundreds of s/w and h/w AVI codecs out there that have bitrates ranging from 150kb/s to 20mb/s so u have to be very specific about which one it is u want to arrive at some HDD space calculation. Win98SE installs Cinepak, IntelIndeo and Video1 codecs as default.
