Bellamy card overturned?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

My frequently-confused Dad reckons that Bellamy's Leeds (H) yellow (for diving) has been overturned. Anyone know if he's right? It's been on Sky apparently...

Don't think so SteveT - no mention on any of the usual sites.

Steve

Don't know about Craig, but I caught the end of a report that said Alan Smith had his red card from the Cardiff game held and added to the yellow received at Newcastle he is booking a 6 week Holiday.

Add to this Lee Bowyer is looking at 6 matches away and Mills is likely to get off lightly with only 7 Matches (If I was the Judge it would be life)

Well my heart bleeds for them

They certainly won't make the Intertoto for being top of the fair play league

I heard on the radio that he couldn't appeal as appeals were only allowed in cases of mistaken identity. No chance of that with wor Craig!

it was mistaken identity, the ref thought Bellamy was a cheat.

He can't appeal but the referee SHOULD look at all his bookings and he can admit a mistake and revoke the yellow card.

Is that right Geordie? Are there no appeals for yellows?

I'm sure Laurent Robert's yellow card for a non-dive was overturned - how did that happen?

...... it was overturned "on review", not via an appeal.

The thing is, Bellamy could just as easily have been carded for gobbing off, so the ref is unlikely to be kindly disposed towards reviewing it...

To be fair he could if not should have been sent off for the handball in the second half. I am sure that had the ref seen it he would have been carded. I think we should be thankful for what we have
