I'm interested in converted AVI files into CDV Video so that I can play them on my DVD player. Can this be done.

Thanks Roland Thomas

Maybe. Yes, it's certainly possible to convert AVI to MPEG-1 video for VCD and burn it. Will your DVD player play it? Maybe not. There is a DVD player compatibility list at www.vcdhelp.com that will tell you if your DVD player supports CD-R and CD-RW media, which is the big question. You'd be surprised how many DVD players, especially ones made by major manufacturers, have no support for CD-R/W media. Another thing to watch out for is if your source AVI is DivX that if there are bad frames in it, you may have major problems doing the conversion. You will have to edit out the bad frames in this case. VCDhelp also has guides to help you do the conversion to MPEG-1 format. Finally, you will need some kind of burning software that supports VCD burning. Nero (www.ahead.de) works well and is easy to use, but there are a lot of choices here.

Hi. I'm also interested in doing this (AVI 2 CDV) so I can play it on my Pioneer LD player. Notice that CDV is not VCD. At least I've found different information to both sigla in the web. I don't think that DVD players are going to support CDV types because they've emerged when LD were on top.
