Meditation - Raymond Leonard - 17 Jan 02

greenspun.com : LUSENET : von Balthasar Seminar : One Thread

What has begun as a working through the rough terrain of a cerebral exercise has turned into quite a profound meditation/reflection on the nature of the spiritual person, and I would even go as far as saying on the nature of the soul. Von Balthasar, in "Truth of the World" has managed to lead me (him first) to a vision of "the big picture". He also lends his own sense of ease to the whole picture, as though there are some things in Creation which have a natural balance if left to their own expression and in this balance there is a wealth of virtue to be displayed and enjoyed. Unfortunately, I close the book to look at the world as it is and see so much of this potentiality being evaded. What Von Balthasar is doing is, I feel, not only analysing and rereading aeons of cultural development and understanding, but he is presenting it to the world as an encouragement to look at what is possible, to present the exemplary, to edify, to awaken post-modern interest yet again in virtue.

Ray, I'm wondering if this is a very general reflection only, or if you are also thinking of particular passages.
