Is it a liquid, which I prefer ? And, does anybody know if it available in the States ?

-- George L. Doolittle (geodoolitt@aol.com), January 16, 2002.

It is a liquid. For example of Ilford Delta 100 and Kodak Tmax developed with SPUR see Marcus's photos: Minox with SPUR

The original negatives are only 8mm x 11 mm

SPUR 1+19 dilution, 20 degree C, TMAX 7 minutes

Delta 100 5 minutes

Martin,

Thanks for the info. SPUR looks very interesting. Is there a source on our continent?

-- Ralph Barker (rbarker@pacbell.net), January 17, 2002.

Ralph, afaik, SPUR is not yet available in USA, it is quite new.

However it can be ordered direct from

Thanks, Martin.

In checking the site, it appears they aren't set up for credit card purchases - funds must be deposited to their bank account instead.

Ralph, I am waiting for further test results of SPUR + Agfapan APX 25, before I purchase a few bottles to experiment myself.

I don't think online payment is as popular in Germany as yet.

What I find is that even "snail" mail from Canada to Germany is quite fast, three days, while it took sometimes two weeks to reach some USA cities.

Martin,

You have a stockpile of APX25? The shelves around here have long since been emptied after its discontinuance.

Personally, I'm more interested in seeing what it might do with something like Ilford HP5+ exposed at around ISO 400. Delta 100-like grain on a 400 film would be quite nice.

Ralph, I bought two 17m bulk rolls of Agfapan apx 25 last year. These film will be cut into about eighty rolls of 36 exposure 9.2mm film for my Minoxi

I got also 300' Techpan, (two rolls ) for cutting into 240 rolls of 36 exp Minox TP film, can last quite some time for me.

The company which sells SPUR also sells Polypan ISO 50 film, supposedly a fine grain BW film.

Kodak TMAX 100 + SPUR SLD / Minox C, by Marcus Dunkmann

-- martin tai (martin.tai@capcanada.com), May 07, 2002.

Martin,

1. All these Minox B&W prints, even onscreen have a certain characteristic look. Could it be that Minoxers develop film strictly for resolution rather than tonality? I owned a minox a decade ago for a short while, and my trial pics with APX 25, had the same look...

2. Do you know any Minox work online which is of people, or candid and street photography? Seems to me that a lot of these examples are still lifes, straining to prove a point about resolution...

Mani, there are quite a few Minox galleries with general themes instead of architecture

Here is John Wonko Watson

With Minox, many different style is possible, not necessarily all have the same look.
