Nvram is prohibited ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Hello all

I ask this question for my friend David Constant. On his D&D Shadow of Mystara score, sktio had write this :

'advertised 1118070 marps rule says no recordings with nvram, this recording may be edited out later, please remove nvram dir in future.'

I'd just read the rules, but I don't see the one who specify that. Furthermore, for some games, nv file is usefull for playback the inp.

So, it's illegal to use nv file for record the input file or not ?

That's right.

It was voted in unanimously at the public IRC meeting EFNet's #marp back in mid-September. There is a log of it somewhere (it [the log] was mentioned on the news page the day after the meeting).

All right, GB9, where'd you put the September news? :)

I'm sure someone still knows the URL to the log of that meeting.

The URL SHOULD BE at http://marplogs.marpirc.net I believe.

Regardless, it should be on the rules page, which Pat Laffaye maintains... or at least that's what I thought... I can always be wrong, though. GB9

OK, I don't know this rule because it doesn't in the rule page and I don't use irc. So, I'll remove the nvram directory in my mame ;-)

Thanks

My bad, the real URL is http://www.marpirc.net/logs - check the August 25, 2001 general meeting.

also, remember to remove it after every mame install (or just don't install the "empty" mame directorys) to not get the nvram dir reappearing... tis a pain but a good thing. at least you don't have to worry about recordings not playing back when the nvram file required has been lost.
